Earlier this month, the Navajo Division of Transportation (NDOT) held the official Chinle Airport Groundbreaking Ceremony where members of the community joined in break ground. In attendance was the Chinle Service Unit (CSU) CEO Darlene Chee who was grateful for the funds needed to update the existing airport and spoke about the need for an improved runway for better patient transportation and safety. Also present at the ceremony were CSU Administrative Officer Perry Francis, NDOT employees and contractors who were awarded the job. Each was given a shovel to perform the momentous breaking of ground event. NDOT and contractors will reconstruct the current runway over the next 120 days.
